We’re not a dispatch center sending whoever’s available. We’re a crew that trains together, troubleshoots together, and shows up with the same flat price we quoted. Here’s who you’ll actually meet.
Our People
Earl Hutchinson, Owner
Earl started with Strongbox in 1983, back when Houston’s Energy Corridor was still mostly ranch land and the Galleria area was figuring out what it wanted to be. He bought the business outright in 1998 and has kept it independent ever since. Earl holds a Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Manager license and still takes the after-hours calls himself when the queue backs up. He keeps a 1962 Mosler safe in his garage that he’s restored three times, and he’ll tell you the combination if you ask, but only after explaining why the original brass dial still outlasts most electronic keypads.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been picking locks professionally for nineteen years, though he’ll clarify that “picking” is about ten percent of what he actually does. The rest is diagnosing why a Medeco cylinder won’t turn in Houston’s humidity, or extracting a broken key from a Baldwin mortise lock in a 1930s Heights bungalow without damaging the original door. He’s GSA-certified for safe work and holds factory training from Mul-T-Lock and Abloy. Off the clock, Marcus restores vintage motorcycles in a garage near the Ship Channel, which is where he learned patience with seized mechanisms.
Dolores R., Senior Installer
Dolores joined us in 2011 after ten years in commercial access control, and she’s the reason our commercial accounts in the Medical Center and Downtown don’t wait three days for a card reader replacement. She carries Schlage Primus and Sargent Signature certifications, and she’s one of the few technicians in Houston who’ll install a full electrified panic hardware system on a historic building without the fire marshal showing up angry. Dolores grew up in Magnolia Park and still lives there. She brings pan dulce to the shop on Saturdays, which matters more than it should.
James K., Service Coordinator
James answers the phone when you call (833) 695-3962, and he’s the one who makes sure Marcus or Dolores actually has the right hardware on the truck before they head to your place. He’s been with Strongbox eight years, which means he’s heard every variation of “I’m locked out” and knows the difference between a customer who needs a technician in twenty minutes and one who needs to hear that help is actually coming. James keeps a map of Houston’s flood-prone intersections taped to his monitor from Hurricane Harvey, because the fastest route isn’t always the one GPS suggests.
Anya P., Apprentice Technician
Anya started with us in 2023 after completing the locksmith program at Lone Star College and deciding she wanted hands-on training rather than another online certification. She works alongside Marcus on rekeys and lockouts, and she’s already faster than most techs with five years’ experience at installing Kwikset SmartKey systems without the common pin-slip mistake. Anya lives in the East End and volunteers with a neighborhood tool library, which is how she found out about the opening here. Earl says she asks better questions than most people who’ve been doing this a decade.
